A. DESCRIPTION
Course Number:9009200
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the computer, digital, and information technology skills necessary for success in their future academic and occupational goals. In addition to fundamental computer information, the content includes but is not limited to digital technologies associated with web development, multimedia, word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet communications, cybersecurity, and computer programming.
Instruction and learning activities are provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials and technology appropriate to the course content and in accordance with current practices.
B. ORGANIZATION This is a hands-on course in which topics are presented by the instructor while the student emulates the procedure. Once Coding Fundamentas functions are explained for each lesson, students will be assigned projects to be completed during class periods. Objective and application tests are normally given after each lesson and are distributed using an on-line testing center and there is a comprehensive/application final exam.
D. COURSE TOPICS The course will cover the following topics:
01.0 Identify computer components and their functions.
02.0 Demonstrate knowledge of different operating systems.
03.0 Demonstrate proficiency using the Internet to locate information.
04.0 Demonstrate an understanding of Internet safety and ethics.
05.0 Develop and apply word processing and document manipulation skills.
06.0 Develop and apply fundamental spreadsheet skills.
07.0 Demonstrate proficiency in using presentation software.
08.0 Demonstrate proficiency in using graphics software.
09.0 Demonstrate an understanding of webpage construction, operation, and function.
10.0 Demonstrate proficiency in using a GUI authoring tool to create a template-based website.
11.0 Demonstrate proficiency in fundamental computer programming and logic

Handouts: Additional handouts will be provided during the course.
F. GRADING PROCEDURES: Students will be graded on a total points scale and by academic proficiency.
G. GRADING SCALE:
- A 90 – 100
- B 80 – 89
- C 70 – 79
- D 60 – 69
- F 0 – 59
H. END OF COURSE EXAM: The end of course exam will be a comprehensive and application in which you will create a design or program as well as answer a set of multiple choice questions. You will be given the allotted time for your individual period. This is designated by the school administration.

- No playful behavior is permitted in the classroom.
- Follow the instructor’s written and oral directions carefully and immediately.
- Internet searching on class/school computers is for projects ONLY!
- Playing any games on the computer/Internet is prohibited.
